Project meetings

The project group meet on a quarterly basis, with each project year consisting of two in-person meetings in locations of high relevance for the research and/or the partners of the project.

Vienna meeting

  • Location: Radisson Red
  • Topics:
    Role of serviced living in the city context
    Role of storytelling in the user experience
  • Site visits and contribution from: Adina (aparthotel); Triiiple Towers Youniq (coliving & luxury serviced residential); Sonnwendviertel (newly developed district); Music Box (serviced apartments); Radisson Red (hotel).
  • Research and/or discussions around: channels (digital and transmedia), mines and basis of and for storytelling; quality, policy, and context of social housing development in Vienna; sustainable and mix-use of urban development

Barcelona meeting

  • Location: The Social Hub (TSH)
  • Topics:
    Key digital enhancements likely to impact serviced living concepts in the near future
    Types of ancillary spaces in service living & the creation of innovative revenue streams from these spaces.
  • Site visits and contribution from: TSH (student accommodation & coworking); XIOR (student accommodation); Youniq (student accommodation); & Live it (shared apartments & coworking).
  • Research and/or discussions around: trends around hybrid spaces in hospitality concepts; analysis of human interactions within buildings through technology; opportunities arising from smart-powered living spaces and the challenges faced by operators in ensuring fair and seamless user experiences; role of empowerment and gamification in promoting sustainable user behaviour; the sweet spot of technology in user experience; analysis and monetisation of real life ancillary spaces.

Copenhagen meeting

  • Location: Creative Denmark (Danish Creative Industries - BLOX)
  • Topics:
    User needs and desires modifying spatial planning
    Linking serviced living and spaces in the local area for community feeling for different audiences
  • Site visits and contribution from: Copenhill (multipurpose building); Urban Rigger (coliving and student housing); Tietgenkollegiet (student accommodation); Danish Architecture Centre (DAC); Zoku (aparthotel & coworking); Siljangade (coliving & coworking); Living places VELUX (sustainable housing).
  • Research and/or discussions around: exploring user desires and needs in the design of living spaces; value of interstitial (in-between) spaces acting as buffers; urban spaces becoming outdoor living rooms acting as cohesive elements, binding communities together; space-storytelling relationship through senses; policies and frameworks driving the democratic urban development in Copenhagen; connected and smooth digital guest journey to enhance the overall experience.

Online Meetings

In addition to the onsite meetings the group meets online every six months. During these virtual sessions, experts in diverse topics (augmented reality, sustainable buildings, technology adoption, apps and websites, etc.) are invited to actively contribute to discussions and research in the serviced living realm via presentations and/or workshops to enrich the collective understanding.
